National Disability Sports Organisation LimbPower are currently working in partnership with The Youth Sport Trust to develop a new module within the current e-learning platform, TOP Sportsability. The aim of this module will support schools (and their wider community) to ensure their offer for PE, School Sport and Physical Activity is inspiring, accessible and meaningful for young people with prosthetics.

LimbPower launched in November 2009 to engage amputees and individuals with limb impairments in physical activity, sport and the arts to improve quality of life and to aid lifelong rehabilitation. LimbPower support amputees and people with limb impairment reach their sporting potential.

Following the creation of a £1.5 million fund by the Department of Health, announced by Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt during last summer’s Paralympic Games in Rio children across England are currently being given specialised sports prostheses from the NHS to help them run, swim and play sport, and even become the next Paralympians.Whilst this is creating a fantastic opportunity for young people, it has also created a need from schools who are requesting additional support to ensure they are fully inclusive in their PE, School Sport and Physical Activity offer and provide a high quality, safe opportunity for all.
